The town of Cleethorpes (or “Meggies” as the locals like to refer to it) remains one of the most popular holiday resorts in the North East of England and can be easily reached with a short journey either by car or via the direct public transport links from the Yorkshire cities of Leeds, Sheffield and Doncaster. Situated on the North East Coast of Lincolnshire at the mouth of the Humber Estuary, the town offers a wide variety of attractions to suit visitors of all ages. A short walk along the beach front reveals the usual array of video game arcades, gift shops, crazy golf and an excellent range of fish and chip shops (all the fish is caught locally in the Grimsby docks – try the haddock - it’s excellent!)
In addition to these more generic seaside pursuits, visitors to Cleethorpes can also occupy themselves with a number of more unique visitor attractions. These include the Pleasure Island theme park, which remains a popular destination for younger visitors and teens, and is located just a short walk from the “sea” front. If the weather is poor, the family can escape the rain and enjoy a wild adventure in the town’s “Jungle Zoo” which houses a variety of intriguing tropical plants and wildlife. Cleethorpes also has a traditional British seaside pier (originally built as far back as 1884) which today also doubles up as a night club and central part of the towns varied and bustling nightlife. If late night partying is not your thing, then the Cleethorpes coast miniature railway and nearby boating lake also offer a more tranquil and relaxing option for younger and older visitors alike.
With such a variety of things to do and explore, it is pleasing to know that B&B accommodation in Cleethorpes is widely and easily available both near the town centre and around the nearby waterfront - which house most of the town’s places of interest. In addition to this, the town also offers a number of bed and breakfasts available to rent along the main Grimsby road which connects Cleethorpes to its neighbours in the nearby fishing town of Grimsby.
