The beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh must surely be considered one of the finest cities to visit in the whole of the British Isles. Another event not to be missed is the fantastic spectacle of pomp and ceremony that makes up the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Watched live in person by over 200,000 people every year, this event brings the Edinburgh castle to life with music from the famous Scottish pipers and a magnificent fireworks display. A word of warning however, if you do intend to visit Edinburgh during the festival period, please make sure you book your B + B early to avoid missing out, as all forms of accommodation are often in great demand during these busier months of the year.
No visit to Edinburgh could be considered complete without a visit to the Old Town area of the city and itās Royal Mile. This area of Edinburgh can be traced back to medieval Britain, and today maintains all of its historical charms through its impressive array of buildings and architecture. The Old Town area of the city also houses the National Royal Museum of Scotland housing a large number of intriguing artefacts from all corners globe - and which may provide entertainment for visitors if the weather turns poor.
