York is a great place to stay for a few nights as there is lots of history, culture and attractions for you to explore. York is well known for its connections with Roman Britain around 2000 years ago, in fact for a two year period the whole Roman Empire was governed from York by Septimius Severus. The city is noted for its liability to flooding and you can choose to have a drink in the King's Arms, a pub that is often flooded, situated on the banks of the River Ouse.
