Stranraer is a busy ferry port with the crossing taking under 2 hours to Belfast. The port of Cairnryan is approx 4 miles away with crossing to Larne. |

Galloway has wonderful scenic walks with the Southern Upland Way starting from the village of Portpatrick which is about 6 miles away. There are many good fishing areas for both sea and river fishing, and is a bird watchers paradise. |

There are 4 excellent golf courses in the area with a new golf range recently opened. There are two bowling greens in the town itself and many others in nearby villages, all of which welcome visitors. |
