The centre of Swansea was almost completely flattened by World War II bombing in February 1941 which means the vast majority of the buildings in the city are post war. For the gentler side of Swansea you can visit the former fishing village of Mumbles, which is situated on the west edge of Swansea Bay. Mumbles has numerous coffee shops, restaurants and pubs and a promenade that offers up a panoramic view of Swansea Bay.
